Music Video, Commercial and AI Director in Prague

prague, czech republic

Amos Le Blanc is a Canadian director of music videos, commercials and AI-led films, based between Toronto and Los Angeles. He is open to working in Prague and across Europe, and would love the opportunity to connect.

Prague at a glance

Prague has been a film town since Barrandov Studio opened in 1931, and Barrandov still offers 16 stages, exterior sets and a costume and props collection it describes as the largest in Central Europe. The Czech Film Commission, running since 2004 under the Czech Audiovisual Fund, is the first contact for foreign producers, and FAMU, the film school founded in 1946, trained directors such as Miloš Forman.

music videos in Prague

The Prague Spring festival has been held every May since 1946 and calls itself the most prestigious classical music event in the Czech Republic, while the Czech Philharmonic is based at the Rudolfinum. On the contemporary side, Roxy, whose story is bound up with the history of the Czech club scene, programmes techno, house, drum and bass, hip-hop and live acts, and Forum Karlín, part of the same PPF group as the O2 arena, holds up to 3,800 people for bigger shows.

commercials in Prague

Advertising is a substantial business here: producers' association figures published by the Czech Film Commission put advertising production at about CZK 2.5 billion in 2024. Barrandov provides stages, set construction, costumes and props, and the commission's directory lists the service production companies and location scouts that foreign teams can hire.

locations and light

The Czech Film Commission pitches Prague as able to play anything from medieval Europe to modern America, with architecture running from Romanesque through modern and four distinct seasons. Its location database is split into historical and modern Prague, and Barrandov adds exterior sets on its own lot.

working in Prague

Prague is divided into numbered administrative districts, and a shoot needs separate permits for each district it works in. The Czech Film Commission lists no separate Prague office among its regional film offices, so most foreign productions work through a local service company or location manager from the commission's directory.

The Czech production incentive, administered by the Czech Audiovisual Fund, refunds 25% of eligible costs for feature films, series and documentaries and 35% for animation and digital production, plus 66% of withholding tax paid; commercials are not among the eligible formats.
